Quilt pattern testing is something I've always wanted to do, and when Rachel from Sew Joyful Studio said she was looking for pattern testers for her first quilt pattern, I immediately volunteered.
The Infinite Weave Quilt is an on-point quilt pattern that comes in three sizes (baby, throw, and bed). On-point means that instead of sewing horizontal rows together to construct the quilt top, you start with the top left corner and sew rows down to the bottom right corner in a diamond shape. I tested the bed size pattern and it's a great size (64" x 78")!
This quilt pattern was so much fun to make! You use strip piecing and log cabin blocks to create the interlocking chains. I was also able to use my brand new Stripology Ruler by Creative Grids that I received for Christmas to cut all of the strips. Even though it was a large quilt, cutting didn't take long at all.
What makes the piecing of this quilt unique, is that scant 1/4" seams are a MUST (not a suggestion - which is how I usually approach it). If you're not confident with sewing a scant 1/4", this would be a great pattern to give it a try. I use the Diagonal Seam Tape by Cluck Cluck Sew and found that if you follow the inside of the right black line, you'll get a perfect scant 1/4".
This is how my pattern test quilt turned out. I love the colors and it's perfect for Spring! The fabric is Morning Light by Linzee Kull McCray for Moda Fabrics. The quilting is by Threaded Spools Studio (me!) and uses the Propel pantograph designed by Longarm League. Be sure to check out the other pattern testers' versions on Instagram. They're all amazing!
I loved making this quilt so much, I just knew I had to make the baby size for an upcoming gift. I wanted to go with a different color palette for this one and I LOVE the new Wild Meadow fabric by Sweetfire Road for Moda Fabrics.
This version was quilted with the Shimmer pantograph by Sew Shabby Quilting. I love how the diamonds in the quilting highlight the diamonds in the background fabric.
AND, to make this quilt even sweeter, I'm partnering with Sew Joyful Studio to offer 20% off edge-to-edge longarm quilting services to anyone that sends me their Infinite Weave quilt top, so head over to her site and purchase your copy today!
